The Proform 995 is one of the better treadmills from Proform. In fact some of its features are so good that the only machines that offer similar compatibility are those that are priced at $2900+.
The Proform Power 995 is therefore very good value for money, and much better value than any other similar machine that you can get anywhere in the market.

Features Of The Proform Power 995 Treadmill
Proform is one of the few companies that offer quite a few features as standard on all their models. For example their ProShox cushioning system is something that you get with all their machines, and by and large, it is the same system that is present in all their models. For the 995 however, the cushioning system is just that shade better because of different springs used, that makes it even more comfortable to use.
Then comes their Quick Assist lifting system that helps you lift the deck. The only downside to this system is that when you let it down, there’s no assistance whatsoever. It is however the same system that is present in all their folding models.
The multiwindow LED display is also standard in all their models, as are the cooling fans. The audio system is also the same, as are the input jacks for your music system or ipod.
Considering that these are all the same for even cheaper models of Proform you may wonder why you have to pay the extra for the 995, and why it is such a good machine.
Well it all comes down to the iFit Live option. While the iFit Live option is standard on most of their machines they do give you the option of not opting for it. In the 995 however it is just plain stupid to opt out because this is where you get what you’re paying for.
For the 995 specifically, every day, as soon as you power up, a new workout program is downloaded on to your machine. This means that there is an almost infinite variety to the programs that you can get with your machine. As with all their programs, it is by Jillian Michaels, one of the preeminent fitness gurus of our time.
So whether you want to lose weight, burn calories, or increase your stamina, you have a different option every single day that you use the machine.
The Google feature is not new, but it just adds to the experience. You can choose any road in any part of the world, and the machine will alter the incline and speed to suit that particular road that you have chosen.
And then comes the online competitions you have. You can connect to a server that connects all proform power 995 users so that you can compete against each other. There is a title race every week, and only 995 users can compete.
You also have the Nike + ipod feature where you can plug in your ipod before you start, finish your workout, sync it to your comp, and go to www.nikeplus.com to not only track your improvement, but also design your own workout plan.
Of course you also get a 60 inch long running deck, but then that’s pretty much a given at this price.
The extra money you pay just for the use of the iFit Live for the 995 may seem a little on the higher side to some, especially considering that the Proform 600 has all these features except for the daily downloads, and the online competitions. If however you are the member of any community online, you will know how important this is to you. And it’s just a one time payment while you get benefits for the life of the machine.
Our Recommendation
Even with all these pluses we still give it 4.5 instead of 5 stars. Why?
Because it’s warranty is poor. Although you get lifetime on the frame and 25 yrs for the motor, you get only 1 yr for the parts and labor. While in any other machine this alone would have brought down the rating considerably, in the 995, because it is so much value for so little price, it’s only a small penalty.
Of course you could pay a little extra and purchase an extended warranty and even then it’s still very good value, which is why we’ve not penalized it too much.
We would definitely say, if you’re a serious runner, go for it. You can compete with others, and the extra money you pay is worth just for this feature.
