The Sole F80 is one of the top selling models when it comes to treadmills. It is definitely not the cheapest, in fact at nearly $1500 it is definitely on the expensive side.
The advantage however is that it is a Sole, and when compared to other designer brands that charge you much much more for the same features, it makes good sense to go with the F80.

In terms of features a close look at the Sole F80 shows that it is quite similar to the F65 which is nearly $200 cheaper. That being the case, why would people go for the more expensive model. Well it gives you a 60” long running area, and if you are a runner, the difference between 58” and 60” is you barking your shins on the front of the machine. The overall look is slightly different although starting from the size of the screen everything is the same as the F65.
Yet the few differences are big ones. The motor is an industrial grade 3 hp one that is so silent that you really don’t have to worry about turning up the volume on the speakers. The cushioning system is much better and is known as the Cushion Flex shock absorption system. People who have tried this system feel that the ones on the cheaper variety is like running on tarmac, it is so good. The rollers are also slightly larger at 2.75 inches.
The Good
- It comes with a very strong and durable 3 hp motor.
- You get a 60” long running deck.
- The display is a 7.5” one and is good enough to read while on the run.
- The display gives you the option of scrolling through the different programs, and even displaying all relevant information like speed, distance covered, heart rate, calories burned etc.
- It comes with an assisted lowering and lifting mechanism, that almost lifts itself up.
- Whisper quiet operation means that you can set the volume of your speakers at a comfortable level, instead of having to keep it really blaring.
- Their standard warranty which was in itself very good is better for this model. You get lifetime on frame and motor, but 5 yrs on electronics, belt and other components that can wear and 2 yrs on labour.
- The warranty alone is worth the extra $200.
My Recommendation
There is really nothing more to be said for this model other than that it is the most popular model in this price bracket. You may find cheaper ones that give you similar functionality, or more expensive ones that give you much more, but as a package the F80 is hard to beat.
In fact even though this one costs more than the F65, it still sells more, because for just $200 more, you get a machine that gives you a much better running experience because of the Cushion Flex system.
You get a really powerful motor that runs really really quietly and a longer 60” running strip. If you are a regular runner, you will pay more just for this. And to top it all you get a warranty of the 5 yrs on parts that wear and 2 yrs on labor.
All this put together is worth much more than the $200 you pay extra, so unless this difference is really something for you, it is better to go with the F80. You’ll never regret it!
