Product: Sole F85 Treadmill
Star Rating: 5 out of 5 Stars

The Sole F85 is a step up from the F83, and although at $2000 you cannot call it a luxury machine, it still falls in that category for most of us. The upside is that if you go for any other brand with the same rock solid build quality you would have to shell out well over 5 grand compared to the Sole F85.

Yet at $2000 it is not something that you can make an impulsive purchase on. It does require a little bit of thought before hand, and that is what we are setting out do do here, to find out if this machine is really worth it or not.

In terms of product features, there is very little to distinguish this machine from the F83 or for that matter the F80 itself. Of course it has a bigger 3.5 hp motor, and you get two heart rate programs, a larger 9 inch screen and generally better stability for heavier users. But once that is said, all is said. There is really nothing to distinguish these models apart from their model number and the way they look.

The Pros

  1. The good thing about this model is that you get a more powerful motor that not only lasts much longer, but also runs much smoother.
  2. You also get a slightly higher weight capacity at 400 lbs although the others can take up to 375 lbs.
  3. The cup holders are great, and the monitor nice and easy to read.

Sole F85 Console

You are basically paying more for nothing in this model. If you don’t want the F80 because the heart rate programs are important to you, you can always go with the F83 which costs $200 less. And although you get a more powerful motor, you really don’t need it, not unless you are tipping the scales at 400 lbs and really need this model.

Verdict

The Sole F85 is a great machine especially if you are a heavy person or want a really powerful machine. You get what you pay for with this machine and the extra cost over the F80 and F83 is for the extra stability with many users not able to tell the difference between this machine and some of the best commercial machines that cost 3-5 times as much.

If money is tight then you are probably better off going with the F80 or F83 but all said this is a great machine that will last years and years. Highly recommended!
